You may be asking "What is Career Counseling?" Well, career counseling is a service available to all students to help them with their future career choice.  Career counseling may be done individually or in small groups.  During career counseling with the students, I will be helping them gain career awareness so that they may be able to being career planning.

During the career education process students may take some assessments or inventories to help them gain some insight as to what their skills, interests, and abilities are.  We will then do some career/job research in order for them to see what is available.  Once they have done some research, we will work together so they can develop their goals and a plan to achieve their career goal.  We will also work on any skills needed and decision-making practice.  Students will also look at job shadowing and do some self reflection as well.

Through the process of career development I hope students will begin to understand that their career development will be an ongoing process during their lives.  Their career development may be affected by educational, economic, physical, sociological, cultural and psychological factors and I hope that by helping them work towards developing thier social, emotional, and developmental skills they will become their most successful self now and in the future as they continue their career development.

During career counseling the NCDA Code of Ethics fundamental principles of professional ethical behavior will be adhered to. These include:
